The Youngsters Engineering Exploration class gives campers aged 5-7 the chance to dip their toe into the engineering design process with a series of challenges that they complete as teams. So far, the group has been challenged to create the longest index card bridge that they can. Teacher Sara does a phenomenal job guiding the kids to work together and think outside the box, as well as discussing discoveries the campers make along the way, such as a triangle shape being stronger than a square.
The second challenge they explored on Monday was to build the tallest index card tower! The campers figured out that the wider the base, the taller they can make their tower.
Other challenges they will tackle this week may include cardboard tube suspension bridge, clothes hanger balance scale, drinking straw roller coasters, shoe box foosball game, and recycled bottle cars. Stay tuned to our flickr and youtube for more!
