Hi all!
This week was yet another exciting and enriching experience for Ivy campers, featuring a diverse host of classes, games, and outdoor activities. In 3-D printing, students learned how to generate and edit digital 3-D models, thereby creating pocket-size mythical beasts and famous monuments that they could take home with them. In NASA Journey, students learned the basics of propulsion by constructing rockets of various kinds using straws, balloons, and much more. Students in the Escape Room class learned about how to complete and create engaging and challenging escape rooms, concluding the week by offering students in other classes to come and try out an escape room of their design. Minecraft Minigames students took a deep dive into the world’s foremost sandbox video game, creating their very own “games within the game” using the variety of tools at their disposal.
Alongside their pursuits in the classroom, campers got a chance to have fun together in and out of the sun. When the weather cooperated, we went out to enjoy Kent Place’s playgrounds and truly state-of-the-art gaga pit. The game gaga was a smash hit with campers this week, as it has been consistently over the years, and in playing it campers were instilled with a competitive spirit and a respect for fairness. When it was too hot or too wet to enjoy the outdoors, we got creative and played counselor-designed games, including chicken bowling (note: NOT played with with real chickens), popcorn, and snow cone.
All in all, week 5 of Ivy camp at Kent Place was equal parts entertaining, educational, and socially engaging for campers. New friends were made, valuable lessons were learned, and of course, good times were had. Here’s to another great week of camp in Summit, and many more to come.
