Campers were hard at work this week collaborating on a cornucopia of concoctions in Kitchen Chemistry! Earlier in the week, they use their skills with mixing liquids to create Co2 by combining baking soda and vinegar and watching their balloons rise!
Later on in the week students tried their hand at creating lava lamps with oil and water and making salad dressing. Always when working in kitchen chemistry it’s important to suit up and avoid any spills!
Kitchen chemistry requires collaboration between campers, relaying instructions for measuring ingredients, mixing, stirring, and finally cooking!
As midweek approached, campers were now baking rolls, cooking banana fritters, and making their own pink lemonade. With guidance from their excellent teacher, these campers showed that given a task, they can create some delicious food!
As the week began to come to a close, students were given their most ambitious task yet, making cookies! As with every other item they made this week, the camper took to making cookies with ease. As this blog reporter can attest, the cookies were delicious, but even more impressive was the collaboration and skill that these campers had in making these tasty treats all week here at Short Hills!
