The post was made by the Creative Writing Class at Somerset during Week 4 of the 2024 summer.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with the campers/International Ivy?
I love being silly and joking around. I also enjoy students who are filled with joy and kindness. My absolute favorite thing is at the end of the day or week is when a camper has accomplished something interesting or remarkable in their class. It’s exciting when a camper finds a class that really sparks an interest. Finally, I really like all of the different classes that Ivy has to offer and how they continue to add new classes.
Q: Why did you want to be a school teacher?
Well I took a class in high school where we had to create lessons for youngster age children. It was because of that class that I taught a boy how to write his name. It made me feel proud and excited that I taught him something he would remember for the rest of his life. I got encouraged to become a teacher and it was a wonderful experience.
Q: What is your favorite class at International Ivy?
My favorite class that I taught is Video Game Creation. My favorite classes that I have witnessed are (for the youngsters) Kitchen Chemistry, (for middle aged kids) are Escape Room and/or Mock Trial, and (for the older kids) War and Peace Game Theory.
Q: How and why did you become the site director? What do you enjoy about it?
I was hired to be the Site Director because I have had personal experience with children. I am a middle school math teacher and basketball coach so I applied as a teacher first and because of my experience I became a Site Director. One of the best parts of my job is that I get to interact with the parents, teachers, counselors, and the campers.
Q: Can you please share a fun fact about yourself?
I won an excellence in acting award at Bucks County Playhouse and was a DJ on my college radio station.
