Earlier today campers in our Engineering Food Science class worked hard combining, mixing, and shaking ingredients to make a variety of food and sweets!
Campers started the day by making space pudding, replicating what astronauts do on the International Space Station. They started by combining pudding mix, powdered milk, and water into a bag and shaking until it was done! They finished the lesson by tasting their puddings—which passed testing.
Later in the day Campers learned how to make butter. They took heavy whipping cream and placed it in a jar… and then shook! After many minutes and some very tired campers they made butter—and its biproduct butter milk in every jar!
Lastly campers combined butter, marshmallows, crispy rice cereal, and some carefully controlled heat to create rice crispy treats! They were as delicious as they were fun to make!
