This week at International Ivy, our Financial Literacy class turned numbers into adventures as students learned the ins and outs of budgeting, saving, and planning—all through the lens of real-world travel! This isn’t your average math class. Here, students dove into the practical (and fun!) side of finance by planning dream vacations, crunching numbers, and pitching their perfect trips to the class.
💸 Budgeting with Purpose
From the start of the week, students were tasked with a fun but challenging goal: plan a vacation to a country of their choice—without blowing the budget! Working in small groups, campers researched airfare, hotels, transportation, meals, and activities. Every decision had to be cost-effective and smart. Should they splurge on a beachfront resort or save by taking public transit? They weighed their options carefully, just like savvy travelers do in the real world.
🌍 Global Adventures on a Budget
As each group finalized their travel plans, they created detailed presentations showcasing their destinations, expenses, and itineraries. Whether it was touring London museums, visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or savoring local food in Venice, every trip came with a clear financial breakdown and clever strategies to make the most of their money.

In this week’s spotlight video, check out some of our campers presenting their vacation plans! Watch as they explain their budgeting strategies, highlight their favorite activities, and pitch why their trip deserves the class vote. The entire class got to vote on which trip was the most exciting and financially sound—and let’s just say, competition was fierce but friendly!

📊 Confidence Through Financial Skills
What made this week so inspiring was seeing students take ownership of financial concepts in such a meaningful way. By learning to compare costs, make trade-offs, and plan ahead, our young financial experts gained real-world skills they’ll use for life. And they had a blast doing it! We’re proud of how thoughtfully our campers approached this challenge and can’t wait to see how they apply these skills in the future. Who knew budgeting could be this exciting?
