Our youngest campers had a hands-on, high-energy morning in Youngster Chemistry Experiments, and their excitement for science was impossible to miss.
The day began with a fan favorite: oobleck. Using just water, cornstarch, and green food coloring, campers created this strange substance that’s both a liquid and a solid depending on how you interact with it. There were lots of messy hands and amazed faces as campers squished, poked, and tried to figure out how it all worked.

Next, it was time to explore the power of carbon dioxide. Campers combined vinegar and baking soda in a bottle to create a gas strong enough to inflate a balloon. Then, they transferred the gas into a container of water, observing how the bubbles floated up through the water.
To wrap up the morning, campers turned their attention to crystal formation. Using pipe cleaners and borax, they created fun shapes and watched as sparkling crystals began to grow. It was a perfect blend of creativity and chemistry.

This class is all about exploration, curiosity, and getting a little messy—and our Youngster Chemists are off to an amazing start!
