The primary goal of this course is to inspire a passion for creative writing using diverse activities, challenges, games, and prompts, including Heart Mapping, Simile Chains, Hip-Hop and Shakespeare, Ted Talks, Storymatic©, photography, Pixar© shorts, share circles, and mentor texts. These fun activities will not only allow students to become interested in the fiction writing process and written expression, but also produce and share an effective, polished anthology of personal works from multiple genres: (1) Six Word Memoir, (2) Sonnet, (3) Ode, and (4) Short “Spooky” Fiction Story. Students will sharpen their creative writing pieces using tips and techniques from our Fiction Toolbox.
