While most people associate Halloween with chilly nights and falling leaves, our summer campers know that any time of year is perfect for celebrating this ghoulishly delightful holiday. The campers all dressed up in a wide variety of costumes, ranging from a zombie to Harry Potter.
Now, let’s talk about the highlight of our Halloween in July celebration—the Great Monster Relay Race! This exhilarating event brought campers together in teams to compete in a thrilling race full of fun challenges and spine-tingling surprises.
The race took place in two sections: first, each class of campers would run to one of their teachers’ doors and yell “trick or treat!” Instead of candy, they got a card with a monster’s body part on it — a lion’s head, a spider’s legs, crab claws, etc. With these parts in hand, the campers would run back to our “mad science lab” to combine these pieces into their very own creature!
While our Financial Literacy class was the fastest to complete their creature, our esteemed judges decided that The Art of Story Class ‘s creature (“Shark-Samantha”) was the most creative of the bunch. They all earned an extra Ivy Point — perfect for the treasure chest tomorrow!
