This week at summer camp, the Youngster group brought the spirit of Japan to life through hands-on learning, creativity, and cultural exploration. Campers immersed themselves in Japanese traditions, language, and art, discovering how fun it can be to learn about another part of the world.
Campers began their journey by locating Japan on the map and learning about its geography, famous landmarks, and traditions. They explored topics like Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms, and the importance of respect in Japanese culture. Through stories and short videos, they learned simple Japanese words and greetings, practicing how to say “hello” and “thank you” in Japanese.
The highlight of the week was the craft sessions inspired by Japanese art. Campers made colorful flags, origami animals, and cherry blossom trees using tissue paper and paint. Each project encouraged creativity while teaching patience and attention to detail, values deeply rooted in Japanese culture.
